True creativity is characterized by a succession of acts each dependent on the one before and suggesting the one after.

While they have been listed in the store for awhile now, I don't recall ever posting an official news item regarding these items - and I know I didn't have any pictures available for them...so here goes.

Basing MaterialsBasing Materials

We currently are offering three different basing items online: Fine Sand, Coarse Sand and Scatter. Each are supplied in 8.4 ounce shaker bottles for easy access. The fine sand has an average size of less than 1/4 millimeter and is suitable for a variety of scenic uses including deserts, stream beds and beaches. The coarse sand provides a much rougher material which ranges up to 2 millimeters and works well to represent scale gravel as well as debris fields. The Scatter is a mix of pebbles which can be as large as 10 millimeters, and is very useful for creating debris fields and skree on hillsides.

Each bottle costs $3.99.

We are currently working on several addition items to bring into this line including foliage, static grass and other flocking.

The popular 15 ml Dropper Bottle, for 75 cents each; Our 8.4 ounce Shaker Bottles, for $1.49; and the handy Bitz Bottles which work with out Dropper Bottle Paint Racks, for 99 cents each.

Better "Paper" Models

Paper models can be very useful, but even with thick card stock - they don't tend to be very durable.  If I have a paper model that I want to modify or use a lot, I make it out of sheet styrene (plasticard).

Print the model out like normal and than you can either glue the pattern on the card or use carbon paper to transfer it to the card.  Cut out the parts  and glue it up.  Ignore the fold lines - it is normally easier to just glue the edges together than to try and get a good fold with the plastic.  Also, the tabs are not needed either.

You can use various epoxy putties to add additional details and also use normal plastic model parts or scraps of styrene.  Prime and paint like any other plastic model.  The end result is very durable and will last a lot longer than paper models getting the same amount of use.
