There is only one tactical principle which is not subject to change. It is: "To so use the means at hand to inflict the maximum ammount of wounds, death, and destruction on the enemy in the minimum ammount of time."

Fast Lane 1:43 Scale Car Collection PDF E-mail

Fast Lane 1:43 Die Cast CarsThis is the first of what will be a regular series of articles where items which were not necessarily intended for use with miniatures and wargames are sought out, purchased and evaluated in terms of how well they will work with miniatures and wargames.

My reasoning is two fold. First it will help to bring to light objects from different areas which will work well with wargames and miniature collectors that people may not be familiar with. Second, it will provide more information to collectors which is not usually available on the packaging or online. This will help to open new areas to collectors and will enable more options for game play.

First on the chopping block is Fast Lane 1:43 Scale Car Collection, distributed in the United States by Toys "R" Us.

Last months sale was a huge success - and a huge failure depending on how you look at things, though I have finally gotten everything squared away and are finishing up the final shipments from the sale.

The hardware issue for the portable cases look as though it has finally been resolved - and I have received the first shipment from the new supplier. I have sent out the first batch of cases completed with this new hardware this morning and the rest of them should go out tomorrow. If you have not received a confirmation of shipment, you should shortly.

You are invited to take part in the 2008 Miniatures and Wargames Survey. This survey is designed to gather information from hobbyists regarding how they play and what they are interested in. Like our previous survey, Miniatures Survey - Summer 2007, we have tailored the questions to help find out what your interests are have have taken those questions further still in order to get more exact information. Many of the questions are the same from that survey in order to help generate trends over time, as I intend on doing a survey every winter in order to see how things are changing overtime.

Paint Rack - DIY PDF E-mail

Like our paint racks - but don't like the price? Maybe you just want to have a go at it yourself. Either way, here is what will help get the ball rolling for you. The following is a bit detailed - quite a bit random - but mostly complete. You should be able to build the racks for yourself for around $15-20 each depending on the woods you choose to use. Once you get a handle on the basic design, you can change it up a bit in order to meet your specific needs.

Miniatures and Wargames Survey 2008 PDF E-mail

In total there were 1778 responses given to this survey. Considering I was really only hoping to come close to or a little above the number of responses in the last survey, I consider this a huge success.  Where appropriate, I have included the numbers from last years survey in order to compare to the results from this years.  Be aware though that as of yet trending can not be done in most cases as the larger sample set did end up including more hobbyists from certain groups.

Also, due to the manner which percentages were calculated, it is common for whole numbers to not be achievable in terms of working backwards.  There are several reasons for this including rounding, and incomplete data sets.  Some survey responses were incomplete or not applicable - for example several people answered "here" for the What Country are you From? question.
